Dive Site: Barn Pool
Location: Inside the breakwater, Plymouth
Description: Deep wall dive
Depth: 10 – 30 metres + (30 – 100 feet)
Visibility: 1 – 12 metres (3 – 40 feet)
Given that most of Plymouth sound is in about 14m of water, Barn Pool offers deep diving very close to the shore. It shelves off gradually from the beach on the west coast to 14m, where it drops rather more steeply to form a wall dive but in the murk it looked like it would go significantly deeper. A silty area with not much in the way of life except plenty of crabs.
