Scuba Diving Northeast England, UK, Europe

July 13, 2007

Dive Site: Beadnell Point
Location: Beadnell, North Northumberland
Description: Craggy bit of land extending out to sea for about 350 metres
Depth: 3 – 12 metres (10 – 40 feet)
Visibility: Up to 10 metres during summer months (30 feet)

Difficult access at low plus the remains of an old steamer with lots of kelp. Plenty of crabs, lobster and small fish, but decent cod can also be found in the overhangs. Care should be taken if surfacing near the end of the reef, because tides are too strong to swim against on big tides.

The south side of Beadnell Point slopes down to around 10m where lots of smaller reefs can be found holding lobsters and cod can be ‘seen’.
